Obituary for Arlo Kneeland
Arlo was born on March 15, 1925, on the family farm in Blooming Valley Township, Grant County, South Dakota. His parents were the late Lloyd and Clara (Mogen) Kneeland. He was baptized and confirmed at Lebanon Church in Blooming Valley. As a teenager, Arlo’s walk with the Lord became much more personal and continued growing until the moment God took his last earthly breath away.
After graduating from Summit High School in 1944, Arlo proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. He was united in marriage to Marie Anderson on June 10th, 1956, in Cushing, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with three children. They lived and farmed in Blooming Valley until they retired and moved to Wadena, Minnesota in 1998.
Throughout his life, Arlo served on numerous boards & committees, including Codington-Clark Electric Co-op, South Dakota Rural Electric Association, AFLC Coordinating Committee, school boards, and the like. He will be dearly missed by many family and friends.
Arlo was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Joyce and her husband Lester Ohnstad; his brother, Harvey; a brother-in-law, Wallace Anderson; a sister-in-law, Harriet Anderson and one nephew, Allen Ohnstad.
Arlo is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his children, Janell Kneeland, Brooklyn Park, MN, Karla Berger and her husband, David, Wadena, MN, and Paul Kneeland and his wife, Ruth, Dayton, MN; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law; 8 brothers-in-law; along with many nieces and nephews.
