Fern loved teaching anyone, she was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority, a founding member of the Piecemakers Quilting at St. Peter’s. She enjoyed church activities, cooking, gardening and flowers. Fern was the first woman to fly in Minnesota and also traveled on a military ship.
On January 9, 2018 Fern passed away peacefully listening to harp being played at the Orchard Adult Care Home in Vancouver, Washington at 92 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Preceding Fern in death were her parents: Alma and Martin Oberg; husband: Robert; grandchild: Joseph Keith; daughter-in-law, Althea Morstad; brother: Milton Oberg; parents-in-law: Dr. Andrew T and Alice Morstad; sisters-in-law: Lavay Yeager and Mary Ann Haakana; brothers-in-law: Ted McDougal, Dr. David Morstad and Dr. Theodore Morstad.Fern is survived by her daughter: Jane (Stephen) Keith; son: Barry Morstad; 4 grandchildren: Mackenzie and Whitney Keith, Jesse and Jennifer Reno; sister: Vivian McDougal; brother: Curtis (Lois) Oberg; sisters-in-law: Alice (Miley) Hass; Jackie (Mervin) Thompson; Geneva Morstad; Marilyn Morstad; and many other relatives and a host of friends.
