Obituary for Norma Ellingson
Norma Cora (Hetland) Ellingson was born on May 25, 1929 in Henning, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Cyrus Julius and Lizzie Marie Sophie (Husfeldt) Hetland. Norma was baptized on June 23, 1929 and confirmed on November 1, 1942 at United Lutheran Church in Henning.Â
On August 1, 1947 Norma was united in marriage with Orrel Meredith Ellingson at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church parsonage in Henning. They resided and worked in Henning until the mid-1950’s when they moved to the Iron Range. Orrel was employed in the mines and Norma worked at various places in the Grand Rapids area. In 1973 they made their home in Henning where Norma was employed as a clerk at the grocery store in Henning, retiring in 1998. On February 6, 1998 Orrel passed away.Â
In 2014, Norma moved into ‘Our Home Your Home’ in Henning. She enjoyed country music, playing her keyboard, embroidery, garage sales, playing 31 and making potato klub for her family.Â
On January 24, 2018 Norma passed away at Perham Health at 88 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Orrel; infant sister, Gladys; and great grandson, Jacob Quam.
Norma is survived by her children:Â Gary (Irene) Ellingson of Cut Bank, Montana; JoAnn (Gary) Eckhoff of Henning; David (Darlene) Ellingson of Kensington and Ronald Ellingson of Henning; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Hagen of Helena, Montana; many other relatives and a host of friends.
